View On GoogleYour Sedation Options Patients of our Peabody, MA, dental practice have the option of selecting from two different forms of sedation. The type of sedative we recommend will depend on your procedure, as well as your preferences and medical history.
Oral Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is administered in the form of an anxiety pill. Our dentists will write you a prescription for the medication which you can fill prior to your appointment. We typically recommend you take this pill about half an hour before your treatment. However, we may instruct some individuals with extreme dental anxiety to begin the medication as early as the day before. The effects of oral sedation last longer than nitrous oxide, so you will need someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
Nitrous Oxide
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a clear, almost odorless gas that is inhaled to produce feelings of calm and tranquility. Before your procedure, your dentist will place a small mask over your nose to administer the gas. This mask allows our dentists to carefully and safely control the level of sedation. Since the effects of nitrous oxide wear off quickly once the mask is removed, many patients drive themselves home after their procedure.

We accept CareCredit®, a trusted and well-known lender for medical financing. They allow dental patients to split the costs of their treatment into a more manageable plan, so that they do not have to stress about affording the care that they need. We can help you explore your eligibility.
